Invest In Your Greatest Asset: You

Invest In You by Outsourcing to Girl Friday

We all have things we prioritize. We change the oil in our cars to keep them running smoothly. We replace a roof when it starts to leak, protecting our homes and everything inside. But when it comes to ourselves—our health, our well-being, our peace of mind—we’re often the last thing we invest in.

I’ve been there. I’ll take care of everything and everyone else before I even think about taking care of me. I keep pushing forward, doing more, and saying "yes" until something forces me to stop. And usually, it’s not in a good way—getting sick, feeling completely drained, or falling into a cycle of stress and low energy. Temporary highs come and go, but the lows? They linger. And deep down, I know this way of living isn’t sustainable.

Recognizing the Problem: Why Don’t We Invest in Ourselves?

The truth is, I’ve treated self-care like an expense rather than an investment. I can justify spending money on my car, my home, or even others, but when it comes to my own health and happiness, I hesitate. For example, I’ve had a cracked tooth for two years and still haven’t scheduled a dentist appointment. I think, “I’ll get to it eventually,” but eventually keeps slipping further away.

What’s even harder is realizing that by neglecting myself, I’m setting a poor foundation for every other area of my life. If my car is running and my house is in order but I’m falling apart, what’s the point?

Shifting the Mindset: You’re Worth It

It’s time to see things differently. Self-care isn’t indulgent—it’s essential. Investing in myself doesn’t mean splurging on luxuries; it means prioritizing the things that keep me healthy, happy, and functioning. Whether it’s scheduling regular doctor and dental visits, setting aside time for therapy, or simply taking a moment to rest, it’s about recognizing my worth and acting on it.

To make this shift, I’m creating a new budget category: Me. This means redirecting some of what I spend on non-essentials and putting it toward my physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. It’s not just about money—it’s about giving myself permission to take up space in my own life.

Helping Others Do the Same

I know I’m not alone in this struggle. Many of my clients feel the same way—they’re juggling so much that there’s no time left for themselves. That’s where outsourcing can make all the difference.

By delegating day-to-day tasks through services like Girl Friday, they gain the most valuable resource of all: time. Time to prioritize their well-being. Time to invest in their goals. Time to truly live, instead of just managing the chaos.

When you take things off your plate, you create room for the things that matter most. And when you invest in yourself, you’re not just taking care of you—you’re creating a ripple effect that benefits everything and everyone in your life.

So don’t let self-care be the last thing on your to-do list. Make yourself a priority. Your future self will thank you.
